SOCKS

A sock refers to an item of clothing which is worn on the feet. Your socks help in absorbing sweat and drawing it to areas where air could evaporate the perspiration. In case of environment which is cold, socks reduces the chances of frostbite. The name socks have been derived from loose-fitting slipper referred to as soccus in Latin and was worn by Roman comic actors.

Over the years socks seem to have evolved from their earlier models which were created from animal skin gathered up and tied around their ankles. Socks are made from several materials such as wool, cotton, acrylic, nylon, olefins, polyester, and spandex.

The color variety of socks can vary and socks coloring are available in a range of colors. Art is even applied to socks for giving them a great appearance. At times color socks tend to be part of sports uniform and enables player teams to be distinguished in cases where only their leg is visible.
